Customized solution of power system components to meet existing infrastructure site constraints.
SunWize worked with their customer, SEC Automation, to provide power in remote sites for dissolved oxygen (D.O.) monitoring sites at two hydro plants for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission
Water Monitoring
Design summaries, created by SunWize, assisted SEC with the building and configuration of the solar powered D.O./radio control systems. Two separate systems consisting of two solar powered remote radios, D.O. analyzers and a master ModBus radio were installed at key locations along the river.
Traffic Monitoring
The system solution is a grid-tied SunWize® Power Online consisting of a 60 watt battery charger and a 48-hour battery bank assembled in a standard aluminum pole mounted enclosure

The security systems are immune to power failures and have an inherent 5-day battery backup to ensure power during inclement weather. The customer’s pre-existing central monitoring allows the remote systems to survey the large area with minimal manpower.
Fish Monitoring | Solar Case Study
Biomark turned to SunWize for a low maintenance, reliable solar power system. Pre-engineered to continuously power the system through the winter during periods of low solar activity, SunWize developed an appropriately sized Power Ready solar system specifically tailored to the Biomark’s PIT system loads in order to maximize reliability and minimize costs.
Environmental Monitoring | Solar Case Study
SunWize engineers designed 5 models so the customer could choose the correct system to best meet each power requirement at a particular location. Some systems were carried to the sites by people and some on horseback.
Hybrid Power System | Solar Case Study
One of the logistical challenges facing SunWize was the transportation of foundation materials to the site via boat and manual labor. To avoid the tremendous effort associated with the transport of materials such as cement and aggregate, SunWize used earth augers as solar array anchor points. The augers were hand installed and exceed specifications for maxi-mum wind loading at 120 mph.
University of Montana | Solar Case Study
The site consists of a high-precision GPS instrument powered exclusively by SunWize equipment. The nearest power line is 25 km away. This site has now been running for 6 years without any data loss. Research is also being conducted in the Lost River Range of Idaho.
Cape Canaveral | Solar Case Study
Strength and size needed to be engineered into the design to handle the severe weather that can be found on the cape. Our engineers also took in account the other environmental conditions such as the coastal region, salty and swampy conditions, and the possibility of regular lighting hits.
