Scott Tonn, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Tonn joined SunWize as CEO in October 2011. Prior to joining SunWize, Mr. Tonn co-founded and served as Managing Partner at Blue Renewable Energy Holdings (BREH), a privately owned renewable energy power producer and development company. Previously, Mr. Tonn served for ten years as President of Essco Companies, a leading west coast electrical wholesale distributor. Mr. Tonn also served as Vice President, Real-Estate and Asset Dispositions at American Tire Group, where he managed real estate operations for over 300 retail and warehouse properties. Mr. Tonn currently serves as President of the Arizona State University Sun Angel Endowment and serves on the board of trustees at Florida’s Saint Leo University. Mr. Tonn holds a BA in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
David Kaltsas, President and Chief Operating Officer
As President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Kaltsas leads the company’s Sustainable Energy Group, Distributed Power Group, and Industrial Power Group segments and all global operations including procurement, technology, customer service, and training. He has been a member of the SunWize Board of Directors since 2006. Previously, as Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Kaltsas grew the business more than 300%. He has over 11 years of experience in leading the solar industry in sales, marketing, strategic sourcing, venture investment, acquisitions, and financing. Prior to joining SunWize, he held various senior management positions at a number of Mitsui & Co. (USA), Inc. group companies including President of Mitsui USA’s Solar Initiative and Vice President of Mitsui Comtek Corp. Mr. Kaltsas holds a BA in Global Change and Transformational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
Kevin Cunningham, Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Cunningham is responsible for controllership, accounting, treasury, and all financial functions at SunWize. Prior to joining SunWize, he was Chief Financial Officer at SunEdison for three years from its time as an equity-backed startup through its acquisition. Mr. Cunningham has 17 years of experience at General Electric Company. During his tenure, his division of General Electric met its profit targets for 14 consecutive quarters. Mr. Cunningham holds a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois. He is also a graduate of General Electric’s Financial Management Program and INSEAD’s International Executive Program (IEP). His professional affiliations include membership in Financial Executives International and the Solar Energy Industry Association Finance Council.
Hiroshi Ashikari, Executive Vice President, Head of Office of CEO
As Executive Vice President, Head of Office of CEO and a representative of SunWize’s wholly-owned shareholder, Mitsui & Co. (USA), Inc., Mr. Ashikari oversees the SunWize and shareholder strategy. Mr. Ashikari joined SunWize in January 2010. During his 20 years at Mitsui, he served as Manager of the Renewable Energy Division at Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and was responsible for the dedicated development of PV projects from global angles. He was also a member of and has experience at the Investor Relations Division and the Project Finance Division at Mitsui Headquarters. He is a Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan (C.M.A.) and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Kyushu University.
Paul Garvison, Senior Vice President, Projects, Sustainable Energy Group
As Senior Vice President, Projects, Mr. Garvison manages the project P&L for the Sustainable Energy Group turnkey construction projects. His career in PV spans over 28 years and has focused on the development of modules, systems and solutions to meet changing customer requirements. Mr. Garvison was formerly the Director of Business Development for BP Solar North America, where he was responsible for the creation and launch of new offers to homeowners. Mr. Garvison joined BP Solar in 1997 and served as Senior Development Manager, Programs Director and Product Development Director during his tenure with the company. Mr. Garvison holds several solar patents as well as a BS in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Jim Stevenson, Senior Vice President, Logistics and Product Planning
As Senior Vice President of Logistics and Product Planning, Mr. Stevenson is responsible for managing logistics, computer network services, human resources, value added manufacturing and inventory control at three warehouse locations. Prior to joining SunWize, he was Senior VP Operations for Siemens Solar Industries and Arco Solar, where he held positions of Senior VP Sales and Marketing, and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Stevenson worked on several significant projects as a business consultant representing TransPacific Capital, Webel, SL Energy Systems India, and Southern California Edison. Mr. Stevenson holds a BA in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and an MBA from Oregon State University.
Dave Eveland, Vice President of Sales, Sustainable Energy Group
As Vice President of Sales, Sustainable Energy Group, Mr. Eveland is responsible for commercial projects sales and marketing initiatives. Mr. Eveland was the Co-Founder of Solar Summit, serving as President since its inception in 2002. He has more than 18 years of experience in engineering, product development and manufacturing, business management, and photovoltaic system sales, design, and construction. Prior to his career in solar, Mr. Eveland worked for Condor Pacific Industries. Mr. Eveland is a licensed C-10 electrical contractor in the State of California, a licensed general contractor in Oregon, a licensed K-11 electrical contractor in Arizona, and is a certified residential electrician with the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards. He holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Davis.
Jason Federspiel, Vice President, Business Systems
As Vice President of Business Systems, Mr. Federspiel is responsible for the oversight of technology, training and customer care at SunWize. Prior to joining SunWize, Mr. Federspiel was Chief Operations Officer and Founder of Alternative Energy Store, an online renewable energy products retail start-up he grew to become the leading retailer of its kind over a period of ten years. His company was acknowledged by Inc. Magazine as one of the top 500 fastest growing private companies. Mr. Federspiel also spent seven years at Lucent Technologies where he held a variety of positions including Systems Engineer, Lead Architect, Senior Process Engineer and Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Mr. Federspiel holds a MS in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Amy Hartzer, Vice President, Corporate Marketing
As Vice President of Corporate Marketing, Ms. Hartzer oversees all aspects of the corporate marketing strategy and corporate communications for SunWize. Prior to joining SunWize, she managed P&L for a variety of brands and product portfolios in both the BTC and BTB sector. Her previous positions included Head of Marketing for the Lawn & Garden division of Syngenta, Vice President of Marketing of the Crouse-Hinds division of Cooper Industries, Director of Customer Retention for OnStar, and Director of Marketing for AT&T. Additionally, she has worked for smaller, start-up organizations. Ms. Hartzer co-authored two publications: “Business Success Through Innovation” and “201 Thoughts to Ignite Innovation” as well as a number of articles that have been featured in Forbes, Industry Week, and Boston Globe. She has a BS in Marketing from Indiana University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
