SunWize Management Team Biographies
DAVID KULIK
President, CEO
Mr. Kulik has over 20 years experience in the solar energy industry. As
an electrical engineer at Westinghouse he was responsible for project
management in numerous areas of photovoltaic product development.
Since 1993, he has been President of SunWize Technologies, guiding
the company’s growth as a distributor and manufacturer.
Mr.Kulik received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1983 and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1990 from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
MASAAKI (MAC) UENO
Vice President, Corporate Planning
Mr. Ueno joined SunWize Technologies as Vice President of Corporate
Planning in November 2006. He is responsible for overall corporate
strategies, corporate governance, and is a liaison to the parent
company of SunWize, Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.
Mr. Ueno previously served as General Manager of Business Development at
Mitsui Comtek Corp. in Silicon Valley. Before coming to the U.S., he
founded Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions, Inc., one of the leading
Information Security service companies in Japan, and served as Vice
President of Corporate Planning since its establishment in 2004. He
also established a web consulting company, Webrain D3, Inc. in 2001
and served as President & CEO until 2003. He began his career at
Mitsui & Co., Ltd., in 1993 and has experience in various IT
businesses both in North America and Asia.
DAVID KALTSAS
Executive Vice President, Distributed Power Group
Since becoming part of the solar industry in 2001, Mr. Kaltsas has been at the forefront of the grid-tie market. Prior to joining SunWize, he was President of Mitsui USA’s Solar Initiative and previously served as Vice President of Mitsui Comtek Corp, where he focused on building and executing Comtek’s solar technology and channel strategies. In conjunction with these focuses, Mr. Kaltsas oversaw Mitsui Comtek’ strategic investment in Nanosolar Inc.
Mr. Kaltsas built his business knowledge base engaging in sales, marketing, strategic sourcing, venture investment, acquisitions, and finance activities in the global marketplace. He served as Vice President Business Development & Content Acquisition of Zapptrio Inc., a subsidiary company of Mitsui Comtek, centered on the development and distribution of mobile content. Prior to Mitsui Comtek, Mr. Kaltsas worked at Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.'s Chicago office where he was responsible for the sales and marketing of Mitsui's services to customers and suppliers worldwide. Mr. Kaltsas began his career at Sakata INX International and was responsible for establishing and managing the U.S. subsidiary's procurement function. He also served on the Board of Directors of NuVision U.S., Inc.
Mr. Kaltsas holds a B.A. in Global Change and Transformational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
DAVID PANICO
Senior
Vice President, Industrial Power Group
Mr.
Panico has over 24 years experience in the solar industry, involving
business management, project management, design engineering, and
power systems manufacturing. In addition to his current focus in the
industrial PV market, he has held positions as Vice President of
Project Development and Senior Vice President of the Commercial Power
Systems Division, directing the business of large turnkey grid-tied
system projects. Prior to joining SunWize in 1994, he held senior
positions in project management and systems engineering with
Integrated Power Corporation, a subsidiary of Westinghouse, and was
an alternative energy engineer with the City of Austin, Texas,
Electric Utility Department. Mr. Panico has designed and managed
major projects involving PV-wind-diesel hybrid village power systems,
stand-alone solar home systems, and large-scale grid-connected PV
systems. He holds a Class B Contractor license in the State of
California and has authored several publications in the field of
commercial and utility applications for photovoltaics. Mr. Panico
received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the
University of Delaware and a Master of Science in Engineering -
Applied Solar Energy, from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
JIM STEVENSON
Senior Vice President, Operations Group
Mr. Stevenson has over 35 years experience in energy and alternative energy related fields. As senior vice president operations, Mr. Stevenson is responsible for managing logistics, computer network services, human resources, value added manufacturing and inventory control at three warehouse locations.
Prior to joining SunWize, he was senior vice president operations for Siemens Solar Industries and Arco Solar, where he held positions of senior vice president sales and marketing, and chief financial officer. Mr. Stevenson worked on several significant projects as a business consultant including representing TransPacific Capital in cogeneration and solar energy development in China, representing Webel, SL Energy Systems, India in the marketing of solar products in the United States and consulting for Southern California Edison.
Mr. Stevenson received a Masters of Business Administration from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University.
PAUL GARVISON
Vice President, Commercial and Residential Power Systems Divisions
As Vice President of our Commercial and Residential Power Systems
Divisions, Mr. Garvison manages our turnkey residential and
commercial installation divisions. His career in photovoltaics spans
over 28 years and has focused on the development of modules, systems
and solutions to meet changing customer requirements.
Mr. Garvison was formerly the Director of Business Development for BP Solar North America, where he was responsible for the creation and launch of new offers to homeowners, including the highly visible programs with Shea Homes’ Trilogy Division and Old Country Roofing’s Solar Solutions. Mr. Garvison joined BP Solar in 1997 and has served as Offer Development Manager, Programs Director and Product Development Director during his tenure with the company. Mr. Garvison holds several solar patents as well as a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
ROBERT SPOTTS
Vice President, Specialty Solar Products Division
Mr.Spotts' experience includes 28 years in the photovoltaic industry in the areas of product design, manufacturing, and engineering of solar products and systems. Mr. Spotts is currently responsible for the design and manufacturing of custom solar modules and products for industrial and government applications and also
responsible for the operations of the SunWize module manufacturing facility in Kingston, NY.
Mr. Spotts has worked in various positions including Photocomm Inc. where he was Vice President and Executive Officer of the previously largest distributor in the USA. Other experience includes positions with State of California, Governors Office of Appropriate Technology, Tideland Signal Corp., and Integrated Power Corp.
Mr. Spotts has an AAS degree in Civil Engineering, BS in Physics/Energy Science, University of Colorado, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering, Drexel University, Honors, Solar Studies, Philadelphia, Pa.
BRIAN HELHOSKI
Controller
Mr. Helhoski has over 20 years experience in accounting. His responsibilities at SunWize include accounting, financial reporting, credit management and financial controls. Prior to joining SunWize in 2000, Mr. Helhoski worked for Besicorp, holding several positions of increasing financial and administrative responsibility. Previous to joining Besicorp in 1993, he held accounting positions at Iron Mountain Records Management and KPMG.
Mr. Helhoski holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Virginia.
